Cerakote Painting Terms and Conditions

Scope of Services

Rhoades Customs LLC offers professional Cerakote painting and firearm refinishing services, including but not limited to:

  • Firearm Coating: Cerakote application on handguns, rifles, shotguns, and NFA items (suppressors, SBRs, etc.).
  • Non-Firearm Coating: Cerakote application on knives, tools, automotive parts, and other approved materials.
  • Custom Designs: Multi-color applications, stencils, and camouflage patterns.
  • Restoration Services: Refinishing of worn or damaged surfaces.
  • Specialty Applications: High-temperature coatings for suppressors and exhaust components.
  • Other legally permissible Cerakote applications.


All work is performed using high-quality Cerakote materials and follows manufacturer specifications for durability and adhesion.


Liability and Warranty Disclaimer

  • Durability: Cerakote coatings provide enhanced resistance to corrosion, wear, and chemicals, but no coating is indestructible. Normal use, holstering, and environmental exposure may cause wear over time.
  • Customer-Supplied Items: Rhoades Customs LLC is not responsible for defects, damage, or malfunctions caused by pre-existing conditions of the customer’s firearm or non-firearm items.
  • Color Variations: While we strive for consistency, Cerakote colors may vary slightly due to material composition, lighting, and application process.
  • Warranty: We offer a limited warranty against defects in application. However, misuse, improper care, or exposure to extreme conditions will void any implied warranty.
  • Firearm Safety: Customers are responsible for ensuring the proper function of their firearm after coating. Rhoades Customs LLC will reassemble the firearm but recommends that the customer inspect it themselves before use. Customers may leave a box of ammunition for testing the firearm after coating. If ammunition is not provided, the customer assumes full responsibility for testing the functionality and safety of the      firearm. This can be discussed at the start of the project.


Firearm Acceptance and ATF Compliance

  • FFL Transfers: Any firearm sent to Rhoades Customs LLC for Cerakote services must be transferred in compliance with ATF regulations.
  • NFA Items: Customers must provide valid ATF/NFA paperwork for regulated items (suppressors, SBRs, etc.).
  • Illegal Modifications: Any requests for restricted or illegal coatings will be denied and reported if necessary.
  • Returning Firearms: Customers must comply with all federal, state, and local laws for firearm returns. A background check may be required before releasing firearms back to the customer.


Pricing and Payments

  • Custom Pricing: Prices are based on size, complexity, and design of the coating service requested.
  • Estimates: A price estimate will be provided before work begins, but final costs may adjust based on complexity or additional labor.
  • Payment Terms: 
    • Full payment is required before the release of any finished item.
    • Accepted Payment Methods: Cash, credit cards, and checks.
    • Check Payments: All checks must clear the bank before the product is released.
  • Rush Orders: Expedited service is available on a case-by-case basis for law enforcement, military, competition shooters, security professionals, and emergency services. Additional charges may apply.


Turnaround Time and Work Completion

  • Due to curing times, multi-layer designs, and surface preparation, turnaround times vary by project.
  • Estimated completion times will be discussed before work begins, but delays may occur due to material availability, drying/curing time, or unexpected technical challenges.
  • Customers will be notified of any significant changes to their expected completion date.


Unclaimed Items & Abandonment Policy

  • Completed projects must be picked up or arranged for return within 30 days of notification.
  • Items left unclaimed beyond this period will incur storage fees.
  • If an item remains unclaimed for an extended period without prior arrangement, it will be considered abandoned and handled in accordance with applicable laws.
  • Rhoades Customs LLC is not responsible for loss, damage, or theft of unclaimed items beyond the agreed storage period.


Legal Compliance and Customer Responsibilities

  • Customers must legally own any firearm submitted for Cerakote services. Firearms submitted under false ownership or in violation of the law will be reported to authorities.
  • Customers are responsible for ensuring all modifications comply with federal, state, and local laws.
  • Rhoades Customs LLC reserves the right to refuse service if the request is deemed illegal, unsafe, or inappropriate.

Laser Engraving Terms and Conditions

Scope of Services

  • Rhoades Customs LLC provides precision laser engraving on a variety of materials, including but not limited to metals, wood, glass, plastics, polymer, and coated surfaces.
  • All engravings are permanent and irreversible. The customer is responsible for verifying that the requested material is suitable for laser engraving before submission.
  • We can engrave serial numbers for any ATF regulated items, will engrave serial numbers on unregulated items. Engravings are limited to logos, text, designs, patterns, and personalization. Any firearm engraving must comply with ATF regulations and will be discussed prior to work acceptance.


Calibration & Setup Requirements

  • Customers may need to provide an additional calibration piece to ensure proper settings, alignment, and depth for optimal results.
  • If no test piece is provided, the customer must approve test engravings on an inconspicuous area or accept all risks associated with first-pass engraving.


Customer-Supplied Items & Liability

  • Engraving on customer-supplied items is performed at the customer’s own risk.
  • Rhoades Customs LLC is not responsible for damages to customer-provided materials due to pre-existing defects, coatings, inconsistencies, or material reactions that may affect engraving quality.
  • If a customer requests engraving on an item that does not meet engraving suitability standards, they must release Rhoades Customs LLC from liability.


Errors, Mistakes & Replacements

  • If an error occurs due to operator error or equipment failure, Rhoades Customs LLC will compensate for material loss, limited to the cost of the item being engraved.
  • If an issue arises due to customer-provided artwork, incorrect engraving details, or unsuitable materials, the customer assumes full responsibility for any necessary rework or replacement costs.


Custom Designs & Intellectual Property

  • Customers must certify that they have the legal rights  to any artwork, logos, or text submitted for engraving.
  • Rhoades Customs LLC reserves the right to decline any request that violates copyright, trademark, or intellectual property laws.
  • Rhoades Customs LLC retains the right to use generic design elements or modified versions of custom work for promotional purposes unless the customer explicitly requests otherwise in writing.


Order Completion & Turnaround

  • Turnaround times vary based on workload, material type, and complexity of the engraving.
  • Rush orders are available for an additional fee but are subject to availability. Customers will be informed of estimated completion times before work begins.
  • If the job is time-sensitive (e.g., law enforcement, military, or urgent commercial orders), it must be discussed prior to order acceptance.


Storage & Unclaimed Orders

  • Orders must be picked up or shipped within 30 days of completion unless prior arrangements are made.
  • After 30 days, unclaimed items may incur storage fees or be considered abandoned.
  • Abandoned items will be disposed of or repurposed at the discretion of Rhoades Customs LLC.


Payment & Refunds

  • Full payment is due upon completion of the engraving service.
  • Deposits may be required for high-value or bulk orders.
  • No refunds are issued for completed engravings unless an error was made by Rhoades Customs LLC.


Compliance with Firearm Regulations

  • Any engraving performed on firearms must comply with ATF regulations.
  • Customers must provide proper documentation and/or tax stamps for any NFA-regulated items before engraving.
  • A background check may be required before releasing engraved firearms back to the customer in accordance with federal and state laws.


Governing Law

  • These terms and conditions are governed by and interpreted under the laws of the State of South Dakota. Any legal disputes will be resolved within the appropriate jurisdiction in Aurora County, South Dakota

By submitting an order to Rhoades Customs LLC, the customer acknowledges and agrees to all terms stated herein. Any deviations or special requests must be documented and approved before work begins.

Barrel Threading & Gunsmithing Terms and Conditions

Scope of Services

Rhoades Customs LLC offers professional gunsmithing services, including but not limited to:

  • Barrel threading and fitting
  • Firearm setup and modifications
  • Optic installation and sight adjustments
  • Trigger jobs and action tuning
  • Firearm refinishing and coating
  • Repair and replacement of firearm components
  • Stock fitting and customization
  • Gun cleaning and maintenance services
  • Any other legally permissible modifications and repairs


All work is performed in compliance with local, state, and federal firearm laws, including regulations set forth by the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms, and Explosives (ATF).


Liability and Warranty Disclaimer

  • Firearm Modifications: Any modification, repair, or alteration performed by Rhoades Customs LLC may void manufacturer warranties. It is the customer’s responsibility to verify warranty terms before requesting modifications.
  • Performance and Functionality: While we strive to ensure all modifications and repairs are completed to the highest standards, Rhoades Customs LLC is not responsible for malfunctions, failures, or unintended firearm performance resulting from modifications.
  • Customer-Supplied Parts: If a customer provides parts for installation, Rhoades Customs LLC is not responsible for defects, malfunctions, or failures related to those components.
  • Safety Testing: Customers are responsible for properly testing and ensuring the safety and functionality of their firearm after modifications. Rhoades Customs LLC strongly recommends professional testing or supervised use before relying on any modified firearm.


Firearm Acceptance and ATF Compliance

  • Rhoades Customs LLC operates as a licensed Federal Firearms License (FFL) holder and follows all ATF regulations regarding firearm handling, transfers, and modifications.
  • Customers must provide valid ATF/NFA paperwork for any work performed on regulated items (e.g., suppressors, short-barreled rifles/shotguns).
  • Firearms shipped to Rhoades Customs LLC must be done in accordance with all ATF and federal shipping regulations. Customers are responsible for ensuring their firearm is legally shipped.
  • Any restricted or illegal modifications will be refused. Customers attempting to request illegal work may be reported to the proper authorities.
  • Returning Firearms: Customers must follow all federal, state, and local laws regarding the return of their firearm. A background check may be required before releasing firearms back to the customer.


Pricing and Payments

  • Custom Pricing: Due to the nature of gunsmithing, all services are quoted individually based on labor, parts, and complexity of work.
  • Estimates: We provide cost estimates before starting any work. Estimates are subject to change if additional labor, parts, or modifications are required.
  • Payment Terms: 
    • Payment is required before the firearm is released back to the customer.
    • Accepted Payment Methods: Cash, credit cards, and  checks.
    • Check Payments: All checks must clear the bank before  product release.
  • Rush Orders: Expedited services are available on a case-by-case basis for military, law enforcement, competitive shooters,  security contractors, or other time-sensitive needs. Additional charges may apply.


Turnaround Time and Work Completion

  • Due to the varying complexity of gunsmithing projects, Rhoades Customs LLC does not guarantee specific turnaround times.
  • Estimated timeframes will be discussed before starting work, but unforeseen factors such as parts availability, complexity, or testing requirements may cause delays.
  • Customers will be notified of any significant changes to their expected completion date.


Unclaimed Firearms & Abandonment Policy

  • Firearms left unclaimed for more than 30 days after work completion will be subject to storage fees.
  • If a firearm remains unclaimed for an extended period without prior arrangement, it will be considered abandoned and handled in accordance with ATF regulations on abandoned firearms.
  • Rhoades Customs LLC is not responsible for damage, loss, or theft of unclaimed firearms beyond the agreed storage period.


Legal Compliance and Customer Responsibilities

  • Customers must legally own the firearm submitted for work. Firearms submitted under false ownership or in violation of the law will be reported to authorities.
  • Customers are responsible for ensuring all modifications comply with federal, state, and local laws.
  • Rhoades Customs LLC reserves the right to refuse service for any reason, including concerns regarding safety, legality, or improper use of modifications.

Lathe & Mill Metal Work Terms and Conditions

Scope of Services

  • Rhoades Customs LLC provides precision lathe and mill machining      services, including but not limited to: 
    • Barrel threading
    • Custom firearm components (excluding serialized parts)
    • Metal & polymer part modifications
    • Small-run production machining
    • Custom fittings, adapters, and tooling


  • Customers must provide clear specifications, blueprints, or digital drawings when submitting a machining request.


Material & Customer-Supplied Parts

  • Rhoades Customs LLC can source materials upon request or machine customer-supplied materials.
  • Customers supplying their own materials or parts assume full responsibility for: 
    • Material quality and machinability. 
    • Any issues that arise due to defects or inconsistencies in the material.
  • If machining customer-supplied components, Rhoades Customs LLC is not liable for any damage that may occur during machining due to unforeseen material defects or machining limitations.


Machining Accuracy & Tolerances

  • We aim for high-precision machining, but perfect tolerances cannot be guaranteed due to material properties, tooling, and temperature fluctuations.
  • Customers must specify tolerance requirements before machining begins.
  • If no tolerances are specified, we will default to standard machine shop tolerances appropriate for the material and application.


Firearm-Related Machining

  • All firearm-related machining services must comply with federal  and state laws.
  • Customers requesting firearm machining must provide proof of ownership and legal documentation where applicable.
  • We do not alter, modify, or engrave serial numbers or perform any illegal modifications to firearms.
  • A background check may be required before releasing a firearm back to the customer, in compliance with ATF regulations.


Turnaround Times & Rush Orders

  • Estimated turnaround times will be provided before work begins. However, all machining projects are subject to change based on complexity, material availability, and workload.
  • Rush orders are available on a case-by-case basis depending on job urgency and existing workload.
  • Rush Order Fees: 
    • 25% surcharge → Priority start over standard jobs.
    • 50% surcharge → Immediate start with highest priority.
  • Rush orders for law enforcement, military, or essential service providers may be prioritized over standard commercial or personal projects.


Testing & Functionality

  • Customers must inspect and verify all machined parts upon pickup or delivery.
  • Rhoades Customs LLC does not test parts for final application unless specifically agreed upon.
  • If a component requires fitting, we recommend test assembly before final installation.


Modifications & Rework

  • If a machining issue arises due to operator error, Rhoades Customs LLC will correct the issue at no additional cost.
  • If an issue arises due to incorrect specifications provided by the customer, the customer will be responsible for all costs associated with reworking or remanufacturing the part.
  • Modifications requested after machining has begun may incur additional costs based on labor and material adjustments.


Storage & Unclaimed Orders

  • Completed orders must be picked up or shipped within 30 days, unless prior arrangements are made.
  • Orders left unclaimed for more than 30 days may be sold, discarded, or repurposed. Materials may be reused for other projects.


Estimates & Payment Terms

  • A detailed price estimate will be provided before machining begins.
  • Full payment is due upon completion unless otherwise arranged.
  • Due to the cost of some projects deposits my be required before work begins. 


Liability & Disclaimer

  • Rhoades Customs LLC is not responsible for the final performance or      functionality of machined components once installed or used.
  • Customers assume full responsibility for testing, fitting, and verifying all parts before use.
  • Machined parts cannot be returned or refunded unless Rhoades Customs LLC made an error in the machining process.
  • Rhoades Customs LLC reserves the right to refuse any job that violates U.S. law, copyright policies, or ethical standards.


Governing Law

  • These terms and conditions are governed by the laws of the State of South Dakota. Any disputes will be handled within the legal jurisdiction of Aurora County, South Dakota.

3D Printing Terms and Conditions

Scope of Services

  • Rhoades Customs LLC provides custom 3D printing services using PLA, ABS, PETG, and other materials upon request.
  • We offer functional, prototype, and decorative prints with standard and high-detail      settings.
  • Customers may supply their own print files (STL, OBJ, etc.) or request basic modifications and design services (additional charges may apply).


File Preparation & Customer Responsibilities

  • Customers must provide high-quality, print-ready files to ensure successful production.
  • Minor file adjustments (e.g., resizing) are free, but structural modifications or major changes may incur additional fees.
  • We do not guarantee print success for customer-supplied files that have poor geometry, incomplete structures, or improper scaling.
  • If a customer is uncertain about file compatibility, we offer file review services before      printing.


Print Quality & Imperfections

  • 3D printing is an additive process, meaning layer lines, small imperfections, and minor surface texture variations are expected.
  • We aim for high-quality output, but perfectly smooth surfaces may require post-processing (additional fees may apply).
  • Color variations and minor warping may occur due to material properties and print settings.


Failed Prints & Reattempts

  • If a print fails due to machine error or operator fault, we will reprint at no additional      cost.
  • If a print fails due to customer-provided file issues, material inconsistencies, or design flaws, the customer is responsible for reprinting costs.
  • If a failure occurs, the customer will be notified and given the option to adjust the design before reprinting.


Post-Processing & Finishing

  • Standard prints are delivered as-is from the printer with support structures removed.
  • Sanding, smoothing, painting, or additional finishing services are available at an hourly rate.
  • Multi-material or multi-color prints incur additional charges due to filament changes and handling.


Customer-Supplied Materials

  • Customers may supply their own filament, but Rhoades Customs LLC is not responsible for quality issues resulting from low-quality or defective materials.
  • Any failed prints due to customer-supplied filament must be reprinted at the customer's expense.


Rush Orders

  • Rush orders are available based on workload and material availability.
  • Rush Fees: 
    • 50% surcharge → Priority start over other orders.
    • 75% surcharge → Immediate start with highest priority.
  • Rush orders are not guaranteed if material shortages or machine downtime occur.


Storage & Unclaimed Orders

  • Completed orders must be picked up or shipped within 30 days unless prior arrangements are made.
  • Orders left unclaimed/unpaid for more than 30 days may be sold, discarded, or recycled.


Estimates & Payment Terms

  • A price estimate will be provided before printing begins.
  • Full payment is due upon order completion, unless otherwise arranged.


Liability & Disclaimer

  • Rhoades Customs LLC is not  responsible for the functionality, strength, or safety of 3D-printed items after delivery.
  • Customers assume full responsibility for testing and verifying the suitability of prints for their intended use.
  • We do not print firearm components that require serial numbers or violate any state or      federal firearm regulations.
  • Rhoades Customs LLC reserves the right to refuse any print job that violates U.S. law, copyright policies, or ethical standards.

Firearm Cleaning Terms and Conditions

  

Service Scope & Limitations

  • Firearm cleaning includes disassembly (as needed), carbon and residue removal,      lubrication, and reassembly.
  • We do not perform metal refinishing, Cerakote, or bluing under cleaning services. These must be scheduled as separate services.
  • We reserve the right to decline service if the firearm is deemed unsafe, modified beyond manufacturer specifications, or requires gunsmithing instead of cleaning.


Firearm Condition Disclaimer

  • Rhoades Customs LLC is not liable for pre-existing wear, rust, corrosion, or mechanical failure.
  • We are not responsible for damage caused by prior improper maintenance, aftermarket parts, or misuse.
  • If damage is discovered during cleaning, we will notify the customer and may      recommend additional gunsmithing services.


Safety & Inspection

  • All firearms must be unloaded before being brought in. If a loaded firearm is received, a $25 safety handling fee will be charged.
  • Firearms will be inspected before and after cleaning. The customer is encouraged to      inspect the firearm upon pickup.


Turnaround & Abandoned Property

  • Typical turnaround time is 3–7 business days unless otherwise stated.
  • Firearms left over 30 days after notification of completion may incur a $5/day storage fee. Firearms left over 90 days may be considered abandoned and subject to resale per federal, state, and local Code.


Liability & Waiver

  • While all firearms are handled with the utmost care, Rhoades Customs LLC is not liable for incidental or consequential damages, including ammunition failure or improper customer use after cleaning.
  • The customer agrees to hold Rhoades Customs LLC harmless from any claims arising from post-service usage.


Payment Terms

  • Payment is due upon completion. Firearms will not be released until payment is      received.
